Dumpster Size FAQs
What size dumpster do I need?
For garage cleanouts, basement cleanouts, single-room remodels, or roof tear-offs up to 25 squares, the 20-yard is enough. For whole-house cleanouts, major renovations, or new construction debris, get the 30-yard. Both sit on the same 22 × 8 ft footprint — only the height differs.
How big is a 20 yard dumpster?
22ft × 8ft × 4ft — that's 20 cubic yards, or about ~100 wheelbarrow loads. Holds about 8 pickup-truck loads of debris.
How big is a 30 yard dumpster?
22ft × 8ft × 6ft — that's 30 cubic yards, or about ~150 wheelbarrow loads. Holds about 12 pickup-truck loads of debris.
How much weight can a dumpster hold?
Both sizes include 3 tons of disposal weight in the rental price. If you exceed that, additional tonnage is charged at $105/ton. We weigh the dumpster at the dump and notify you before billing.
What's the difference between 20 and 30 yard dumpsters?
Same length and width (22 × 8 ft), different heights — the 20-yard is 4 ft tall and the 30-yard is 6 ft tall. The 30-yard holds 50% more volume on the same footprint.
